No is the simple answer you can not use a 64bit operating system on a system running 32bit if you did nothing would run as it is set up to run as a 64bit motherboard yours is not. You will need to get a 64bit machine to be able to use the software.

Afterall this is why you can get 64bit and 32bit operating systems.

It is all based on the hardware in your system!!!!!

Did you look up his mobo? I thought the OS was determined by the processor, and his processor is 64 bit compatible.

Windows 7 is scores better than Vista, but you would have to reformat your hdd, essentially wiping it clean and then reinstall Win 7, and all your programs again, which may or may not be worth it to you. Also with a 64 bit OS, it will support higher amounts of Ram. 32 bit supports up to 3.6~gigs of ram, and 64 bit is recommended for systems with 4gig+

Just my input

It depends on the processor. I succesfully ran my 64 bit AMD quad core processor on a Windows XP 32 bit Operating system. The reason it worked was because my processor can run in either 32 or 64 bits. It has both modes though it is meant for the 64 bit environment. I haven't checked but find out if your processor supports both modes. The Intel website will likely tell you.

His biggest problem is that ASUS m50 Motherboards have little or no drivers for 64bit control including NO shortcut key controls.

On this motherboard you NEED to have shortcut key controls.

Here is the list of controls you will no longer be able to use....

Instant launch Keys,2 buttons:
Wireless Switch, Power4Gear eXtreme Function Keys:
Fn+F1 Suspend switch
Fn+F2 WLAN switch
Fn+F2 Bluetooth switch
Fn+F3 Access to the E-mail
Fn+F4 Access to the Internet
Fn+F5 Brightness down
Fn+F6 Brightness up
Fn+F7 LCD on/off
Fn+F8 LCD/CRT switch display
Fn+F9 TouchPad Lock
Fn+F10 Volume on/mute
Fn+F11 Volume down
Fn+F12 Volume up
Fn+Num Lk: Scroll Lock on/off
Fn+Space Power 4Gear eXtreme
Fn+C Splendid
Fn+T Power4Phone
Fn+V Camera capture
Fn+↑: Stop
Fn+↓: Play/Pause
Fn+ ←:Skip to Previous Track
Fn+ →:Skip to Next Track

Can I ask WHY??????

Would you want to run a 64bit machine at a slower rate at 32bit!!!
When it is designed to run as 64bit.

If you ever do any video editing trust me when I say use 64bit with 32 gigs of ram.

hehe it takes the poop out of 32 bit systems.

Allow me to give you an idea of the difference.

I compiled a video the other day with one of my mixes the file ended up being 42 mins and 14 secs long.
To render this into dvd form I used "ConvertXtoDVD 4"

With extra menus, total play time of 44 mins.
To turn this into a dvd in 64bit mode took me a total of 3mins 29secs
The same layout but on a 32bit OS took me a total of 12mins 2 secs

64bit mode setup
32 gig RAM
Nvidia 5800 quadro with 4 gig of RAM onboard
X2 6400+ AMD CPU
That's all the important stuff.

32bit mode setup
32 gig RAM (can only use 4gig in 32 mode)
Nvidia 5800 quadro with 4 gig (32os only sees 1gig of this ram) of RAM onboard
X2 6400+ AMD CPU
Now you can see why it helps in VT editing.

It does make a difference with all that ram.....

On a downside for me my graphics card is too powerful for BF2 and I get graphic issues when I have terrain set to high
but everything else runs just fine!!!!
